Are you a female student in your penultimate year, final year intending to do honours or third year of a combined degree?

Are you concerned that the investment banking industry is male dominated?

The Program

This program aims to increase students’ understanding of the finance industry and to foster an interest amongst female students to apply for graduate positions at Investment Banks in Australia. Students will be paired with a mentor from an investment bank to establish a mentoring relationship for the duration of Semester 2, 2009.

Complimentary 2-course lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel on Friday 30 May 12-2pm (Week 12)., where you will:

Meet your mentor
Hear from successful bankers about the challenges and opportunities in the industry for women
Learn about summer and graduate opportunities at Investment Banks
Exchange contact details with your mentor for future communication

After the launch of the program, students will have the opportunity to email and meet with their mentors throughout Semester 2 where you can:

Learn about the different divisions of an investment bank. This will help to guide you as to which division may suit you the best
Get tips to get ahead and succeed in the industry
Ask advice on balancing one's personal life with one's career
Gain a thorough understanding of everyday life as an investment banker

Meeting with the mentees and mentors of your delegated Bank at their office, which may also include a tour of their trading floor.

Concluding evening function in Week 13, Semester 2, 2009.

The maintaining of contact will be dependent upon you, your mentor, and both of your availabilities throughout the duration of the Program.

The Mentors

Mentors will be representatives from Citi, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs JBWere, Macquarie Bank, UBS and Westpac Institutional Bank. Mentees may request the gender of their mentors, dependent upon availability. Mentors will primarily be female.

Who can Apply?

You are eligible to apply for the program if you:

Are a female student
Are a penultimate, final or 3rd year combined degree student
Have a credit average
Have an interest in the Finance Industry
Possess good communication skills
Applications are open to non-members

NB: Places are strictly limited. Applicants will be selected according to their eligibility for the program as demonstrated in the application criteria. An interview may be required.
