ComSoc aims to help students to achieve their best in all aspects of life. To improve efficiency we have separate committees overlooking different areas of ComSoc activities. Overall there are six major portfolios and each has its own team working on it. There is numerous amount of work we face so if you are a creative, vibrant and motivated person, you are welcome to join a committee of your favourite portfolio. Your interest in ComSoc life and help with organisational and operational matters will be most appreciated.
The Careers committee is directly involved in organising ComSoc career events. ComSoc is expanding its current seminar program in order to have closer interactions with graduate employers. If you would like to help in creation of seminar programs in order to give the maximum benefits to our members you can join this portfolio. As part of this committee you will be interacting directly with firms and University lecturers to organise seminars and activities.
The Social committee is directly involved in organising social activities. This year ComSoc is increasing the number of social events and diversify its events held for students. We always welcome your creativity and fresh ideas. The team is directly involved in calling venues for cocktail parties, pub-crawls, lunches and even paint ball. It also sells tickets for events and sets up the BBQ, calls DJs and finds decorations. The possibilities are endless and depend on your enthusiasm and creativity.
The Sport committee organises ComSoc interfaculty sport teams as well as sporting trips and activities. The possibilities for events are endless. You could arrange trips to watch the Swans or the wallabies for instance. Also you can establish more fun interfaculty sports contests as well as more serious teams entered into various weekly competitions.
The Sponsorship committee is vital part of ComSoc's development. We are looking to grow and provide more value for our members (Just have a look at all the goodies we provided in this year's O-week bags) as well as to benefit the University. All of this happened because of the generous support form our existing sposnors. Involvement in this committee will see you using innovation and determination in contacting companies and establishing a solid healthy relationship with them.
The Marketing committee is essential if ComSoc is to hold events and get students to attend them. In only 4 years ComSoc has grown from a mere idea into the 2nd largest voluntary membership society on campus largely due to our ability to create a brand name for ourselves and effectively advertise our society and events. As part of this committee you will engage your creativity in coming up with advertising campaigns and design. You will also utilise marketing innovation and strategy in assisting member-recruiting campaigns at O'Week and throughout the year.
The Publications committee is in charge of all readable material ComSoc publishes. This includes the ComSoc newsletter, student handbooks and additions to the website. As part of this committee you can write, edit or/and be involved in layout and design. Your creativity is needed in thinking of story ideas, newsletter layouts and suggesting new publications. A sense of humour or a journalistic flare would also be helpful. No knowledge of publishing programs or experience is required.
If you are interested in joining any of the committees, you are most welcome do so my emailing info@comsoc.com.au
